Depending on the lighting in your room, you can switch between several color styles to make the clock comfortable to look at. In bright daylight, the default Classic Black LCD style provides crisp, glare-free contrast on a clean grey backing reminiscent of classic bedside alarm clocks. In dimmer rooms or late in the evening, switching to warm amber, ruby red, or matrix green gives you a soft, glowing display that avoids harsh blue light and is easy on your eyes.
You can also tailor the clock format to match your habits. Toggle between standard 12-hour AM/PM time and 24-hour military time with a single click. If you are doing precise timing for video recordings or scientific experiments, turn on the millisecond counter to see real-time fractions of a second alongside the main digits.
Chimes, Spoken Time, and Daily Progress Tracking
When you are deeply absorbed in a project, hours can easily slip away without notice. Turning on the Hourly Chime plays a soft, gentle synthesized chime at the start of each hour, giving you a friendly checkpoint to pause, stretch, and evaluate your progress without having to keep your eyes glued to the screen. If your hands are busy or you are getting dressed across the room, click the Speak Time button to hear the current time read aloud in natural English.
Directly beneath the main digits, visual progress bars keep you connected to the bigger picture. The Day progress bar shows what percentage of the current 24-hour cycle has elapsed since midnight, while the Year progress bar tracks how far along we are in the calendar year. A secondary time zone selector also lets you monitor local time for a remote colleague or family member in another country simultaneously.
